Manual Corrections / Fees
In some cases, transactions may be subject to manual corrections or adjustments. These are listed as Manual Corrections in the transaction details or in the exported CSV reports.
Manual Corrections can include various types of fee entries that are either passed on to the merchant or compensated by Wallee, depending on the nature and agreement. Below is an overview of common reasons why such entries may appear.
Common Causes for Manual Corrections
1. Chargeback Fees
These are fees imposed by the card schemes or acquirers in the context of disputes or chargebacks. In some cases, Wallee may choose to absorb these fees and credit them back to the merchant’s fee account.
2. Processing Integrity Fees (e.g. Mastercard)
These are penalties applied when transaction processing rules are not followed correctly. Mastercard, for example, charges Processing Integrity Fees under the following conditions:
- A final authorization is not submitted for clearing within two calendar days.
- The clearing (First Presentment) is missing a valid Trace ID from the original authorization.
- The clearing is submitted more than seven calendar days after the authorization.
- The transaction amount or currency submitted for clearing does not match the original authorization.
Such fees are typically relevant for e-commerce (eCom) and point-of-sale (POS) transactions.
3. Manual Booking Adjustments
In rare cases, manual adjustments may be needed for accounting or reconciliation purposes. This can include:
- Correction of payout amounts
- Reclassification of fees or refunds
- Technical fixes for edge-case transactions
Where to Find Manual Corrections
You can identify manual corrections:
- In the transaction detail view under the “Fees” or “Adjustments” section
- In the exported transaction CSV file, marked as
manual_correctionor with corresponding fee type codes
Best Practices To minimize Processing Integrity Fees:
- Ensure all authorized transactions are captured and submitted for clearing within the required timeframe.
- Make sure the clearing request references the correct authorization (Trace ID).
- Avoid submitting amounts or currencies that differ from the authorized values.
